Since more than ten years, regular workshops for the software package ARB and SILVA are offered by the ARB/SILVA Team in Bremen.
We are in close contact to the
ARB development team of Wolfgang Ludwig in Munich since the early years of the software and represent the official lead testers of the
ARB software suite. The SILVA databases represent the official rRNA gene datasets of the ARB project.
Besides a detailed introduction to the concept of ARB, the workshops also include the theory of phylogenetic analysis and probe design as well as extensive demonstrations and hands-on tutorials.
The regular ARB/SILVA workshops are held in Bremen, Germany and are offered at least once a year (usually, biannual).
Since 2005 they are operated by the company
Ribocon which also offers custom-tailored, on-site workshops to cope with the high demand for ARB/SILVA training.
In the last 5 years, more than 150 users from 20 different countries and all 5 continents have been thought by our experts in the regular 4 day workshops, plus nearly 200 users during our 2-3 day on-site tutorials all over the world.
For more information see below or visit the
ARB/SILVA training section of the Ribocon webpage.

Our LAST two regular 4 day ARB/SILVA workshops have been held in December 2010 in Bremen, Germany.
Download the
Program (pdf) of this course to get detailed information on the content of our current ARB/SILVA workshops.
Of course, also aspects related to non-rRNA analysis (other genetic markers and proteins) are addressed since ARB represents a general tool for sequence analysis.
The high value of our training sessions is ensured by constant evaluation done by the participants (view
Evaluation results of the 2008 - 2010 courses - pdf).
The NEXT regular ARB/SILVA workshop will take place
October 24 - 28, 2011 in Bremen, Germany
Registration closed - fully booked!
New! On day 5, EBI guest teachers will train you in sequence submission
and related tools!
