Free software for (rRNA) sequence analysis from the TU Munich!
ARB is a freely available, integrated software package under constant development within the group of Wolfgang Ludwig at the Technical University (TU) Munich.
The latest official release (December 2007) of ARB can be downloaded from the
ARB website.
Please note that ARB is delivered with several tools and packages from third party authors. Users need to take care concerning the appropriate licence agreements. In general, this should be no problem for academic and non-commercial users.
Since more than ten years, the ARB/SILVA team offers regular workshops for the software package ARB and SILVA in Bremen, Germany. This includes the theory of phylogenetic analysis and probe design as well as extensive hands-on tutorials. The courses are offered on a biannual basis and are open for basic and advanced users.
All workshops are operated by Ribocon.
Additional (custom-made) on-site workshops are offered on request.
For more information/registration please visit the
Training section of the Ribocon website or contact
arb(at)ribocon.com.
build by
Ribocon and offered for 78,- EUR (excl. VAT) plus shipping.
Simplify your Life!
The current version 3.0 is based on the Linux distribution Ubuntu 9.04 from April 2009 and the K Desktop Environment (KDE) 4.3.
The ARBuntu system installs a complete operational Linux distribution (a Linux-based operating system and a desktop environment plus a full set of common applications) as well as the software package ARB to your computer by just booting from the DVD. An automatic installer will guide you through the simple installation procedure of ARBuntu which takes less than 30 minutes on a standard computer.
For detailed information and ordering please visit the
ARBuntu section of the Ribocon website.
biomers.net - the biopolymer factory
The requirement for high-grade labeled and unlabeled probes and primers have forced us to look for a company with excellent quality and reasonable prices.
biomers.net located in Ulm, Germany, offers a fast, reliable and personal service which fulfills our expectations since many years now.
It is the intention of the SILVA project to serve the community with high quality products and services and we recommend biomers.net as your partner for biopolymer synthesis.
Visit
www.biomers.net to learn more about their products and services.
Professional Software for Sequence Assembly/Editing & Data Integration!
The
RNA Baser is a powerful sequence assembler/editor for initial processing of sequence data, extended for easy contextual data (metadata) integration.
You import chromatogram files from the sequencing device plus a file containing your contextual data, and within few seconds you have a quality-checked 'Metadata-FASTA' file for subsequent data analysis! Manual editing is optional.
Despite its low price it as as powerful as comparable solutions - try it!
The RNA Baser is part of a joined initiative of the
MPI Bremen,
Ribocon and
HeracleSoftware.
To learn more about our initiative on contextual data integration and the tools available, please visit the SILVA
Projects/Contextual data section.
General features of the RNA Baser:
For a detailed list of the features, Prices and Download please visit the
Home of the RNA Baser.
And don't forget to download the current version of our
rRNA Contextual Data Spreadsheet (free!) for organization of your metadata and later integration.

Free software for data mining and comparison of prokaryotic Genomes and Metagenomes
JCoast is a freely available, lightweight software tool for data mining and comparison of prokaryotic (meta)genomes made for biologists.
Like a web browser for exploring the internet, it allows you to easily browse and further analyse pre-computed (meta)genomes and offers maximum flexibility!
Features of JCoast:
New Version 1.3 released on October 27, 2008!
Visit the
JCoast website for download, background, documentation, screenshots, and much more
or have a look at the JCoast publication in BMC Bioinformatics for a detailed summary:
BMC Bioinformatics 2008; doi:10.1186/1471-2105-9-177
Remark:
If you do not have the capacities to process genomic or metagenomic raw data (gene prediction, automatic annotation) for later data mining using JCoast, please refer to the
Ribocon (Meta)Genome Analysis Service.
Sequencing of (meta)genomes is routine, the bioinformatic processing of (meta)genomic data is not - Ribocon has closed this gap …

How does it work?
It is as easy as sending out DNA for sequencing, as fast, and an order of magnitude more cost-efficient compared to setting up your own pipeline or buying oversized solutions!
No need to take care about the technological aspects of bioinformatics.
After data delivery, you are completely independent!
