01.02.2011 MIENS standard renamed to MIMARKS
The contextual (meta)data standard MIENS, issued by the Genomic Standards Consortium, has been renamed to MIMARKS (Minimum Information about a MARKer gene Sequence). The new name was created to better reflect the purpose of the standard.

28.12.2010 Scheduled Downtime on Dec 29th
On December 29th between 9AM and 1PM (CET / GMT +1) custom download and alignment services will be down. Our IT department will be using the quiet times to upgrade our firewall. In the process, the connection between the SILVA web server and our cluster will be severed. Jobs submitted or running during the maintenance window will be queued and should be processed once the firewall comes up. If you job doesn't come through, kindly resubmit it after 2 PM. After two years of discussion, with more than 90 experts, the first version of the contextual (meta)data standard MIENS (Minimum Information about an ENvironmental Sequence) has been released. Please have a look and vote for it.
