SILVA Terms of Use/License Information
As of release 138 the SILVA databases, its taxonomy, and all files provided for download are licensed unter Create Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC-BY 4.0).
All data is freely available for academic and commercial use as long as SILVA is credited as original author and a link to the full license is provided.
Releases before SILVA 138 are not affected by the new license. Please refer to the license file provided in each download directory for the license associated with the provided files.
Logo Usage Guidelines
Our logo represents the identity of SILVA. To keep its use clear and consistent, we kindly ask you to follow these guidelines:
- When you can use the logo
- In academic settings (presentations, posters, publications, teaching materials).
- In online or print media when writing about SILVA.
- To indicate that your work makes use of our database.
- How not to use the logo
- Please don’t change its colors, proportions, or design.
- Don’t combine it with other elements in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership, or sponsorship without our approval.
- Don’t use it for commercial purposes.
- Good practice
- When possible, include the note: “Logo courtesy of SILVA”.
